Emirates International Endurance Village(EIEV) in Abu Dhabi, UAE

Gongwin-KY (6617) Invited by UAE’s Leading Equestrian Authority EIEV, Targeting the Multi-Billion-Dollar Equine Healthcare Market

Gongwin-KY (TWSE: 6617) announced today that it was invited by the Emirates International Endurance Village (EIEV), a globally recognized equestrian institution in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to present its core PTS intratumoral chemical ablation technology to EIEV Chairman and UAE Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, along with veterinary experts.

The two sides held in-depth technical discussions on the treatment of superficial skin tumors in high-value Purebred Arabian horses, marking an important step in Gongwin-KY’s strategy to enter the Middle East’s high-value equine healthcare market.

Targeting Tumors in Purebred Arabian Horses: Encouraging Clinical Results with PTS

EIEV, supported by UAE Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is a world-class endurance riding center recognized by the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI). Horse health and welfare are fundamental priorities in endurance competition. Purebred Arabian horses trained extensively under intense sunlight may develop superficial skin tumors, including melanoma and sarcoma, creating a potential need for effective and minimally invasive treatment options.

At the meeting, Gongwin-KY presented the clinical development of its equine tumor ablation candidate, p-TLS. The company previously collaborated with National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) in Taiwan on a clinical study, with related findings subsequently presented at the World Equine Veterinary Association (WEVA) congress in Thailand. The study evaluated p-TLS in several types of superficial equine tumors, including melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and sarcoma, with the company reporting a 100% tumor ablation rate among the evaluated cases.

p-TLS is administered directly into the tumor and is designed as a minimally invasive, localized, and targeted tumor ablation approach. The treatment has the potential to reduce systemic treatment burden and shorten recovery time. These characteristics may be particularly relevant for high-value performance horses, where maintaining athletic function, minimizing treatment-related disruption, and supporting animal welfare are key priorities for owners and veterinary teams.

Addressing a Major Unmet Need in the Global Equine Healthcare Market

According to international equestrian and horse-racing industry statistics cited by the company, the global equestrian and racing industry generates more than US$300 billion annually, while the worldwide veterinary, pharmaceutical, and healthcare market for high-value horses is estimated at up to US$10 billion per year (approximately NT$320 billion).

According to the latest official statistics cited from the Emirates Racing Authority (ERA), more than 24,000 high-value racehorses and purebred horses are registered in the UAE, including over 14,000 Purebred Arabians. Individual high-value horses may be worth millions to tens of millions of U.S. dollars.

Grey horses represent a particularly important population in equine melanoma. The prevalence of melanoma increases substantially with age, with published studies reporting that approximately 80% of older grey horses may develop melanocytic tumors. As Purebred Arabians play a major role in endurance racing, breeding, and equestrian activities across the Middle East, superficial and cutaneous tumors represent a notable unmet medical need within this population.

Compared with conventional surgical excision, which may involve larger wounds and longer recovery periods, PTS intratumoral ablation offers an alternative minimally invasive treatment strategy. For competitive horses whose value and performance depend heavily on physical function, this approach may offer potential clinical and commercial advantages.

UAE Positioned as a Strategic Gateway to the Middle East

The invitation from EIEV for an in-depth technical exchange not only highlights the potential for Gongwin-KY’s PTS platform to expand from companion-animal oncology into high-value large-animal applications, but also provides the company with direct exposure to frontline equine healthcare needs in the Middle East.

Gongwin-KY plans to further evaluate opportunities for local clinical research, regulatory registration, strategic partnerships, and commercialization in the UAE, positioning the country as an important strategic gateway for expansion into the broader Middle Eastern animal healthcare market.

Gongwin-KY stated that as the global animal healthcare industry increasingly moves toward precision medicine, minimally invasive treatment, and higher standards of veterinary care, the company intends to leverage the early-mover advantages of its PTS technology platform. By expanding from canine and feline companion animals into equine and other high-value large-animal applications, Gongwin-KY aims to accelerate the cross-species, multi-indication, and international development of PTS, while establishing a new overseas growth opportunity for its animal oncology business.
