Gongwin-KY Invited by EIEV in the UAE to Explore PTS Applications in Equine Oncology

Gongwin-KY (6617) advances its Middle East strategy through technical exchange on p-TLS intratumoral tumor ablation for high-value horses

Gongwin-KY (6617) was invited by the Emirates International Endurance Village (EIEV) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to introduce its proprietary PTS intratumoral chemical ablation technology and exchange perspectives with veterinary professionals on potential applications in equine oncology.

The meeting focused on the management of superficial tumors in high-value horses, particularly Purebred Arabians, and provided an opportunity to discuss the clinical characteristics of p-TLS, treatment procedures, and potential future collaboration in the UAE.

The exchange represents another step in Gongwin-KY’s international development of the PTS platform and its expansion from companion-animal oncology into equine medicine.

p-TLS Demonstrates Potential in Superficial Equine Tumors

Gongwin-KY presented the clinical development of p-TLS (para-toluenesulfonamide), an investigational intratumoral tumor ablation treatment for equine tumors.

In collaboration with National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) in Taiwan, Gongwin conducted a clinical study involving horses with superficial tumors, including melanoma, sarcoid, and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). Findings from the study have also contributed to the company’s growing body of scientific evidence in equine oncology, with related research presented through international veterinary scientific platforms, including the World Equine Veterinary Association (WEVA).

In the treated tumors evaluated in the study, a 100% tumor ablation rate was observed. Treatment responses were characterized by progressive changes within the tumor following intratumoral administration, including tumor necrosis and subsequent wound healing.

p-TLS is administered directly into the tumor, allowing treatment to be concentrated at the target lesion. Its key characteristics include minimally invasive administration, localized treatment, and direct tumor ablation, with the potential to reduce systemic treatment burden.

These characteristics may be particularly relevant in equine medicine, where maintaining mobility, athletic function, quality of life, and minimizing recovery time are important considerations.

Addressing an Unmet Need in Equine Oncology

Superficial tumors can represent a significant clinical challenge in horses. Melanoma is particularly prevalent among aging grey horses, while sarcoids and squamous cell carcinomas are also commonly encountered equine skin tumors.

This issue is especially relevant in regions such as the Middle East, where Purebred Arabian horses play an important role in endurance racing, breeding, and equestrian sports.

Conventional treatment options may include surgical excision, cryotherapy, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, or other locoregional approaches, depending on tumor type, location, size, and individual patient considerations. However, tumors located in anatomically challenging areas or in horses where preservation of function is particularly important may require alternative treatment strategies.

By delivering the active agent directly into the tumor, p-TLS represents a differentiated approach to localized tumor management without requiring wide surgical excision.

UAE as a Strategic Gateway for Equine Healthcare Development

The UAE is internationally recognized for its equestrian culture, Purebred Arabian breeding programs, endurance racing, and investment in advanced equine healthcare.

Engagement with EIEV provides Gongwin-KY with an opportunity to better understand the clinical needs of veterinarians and horse owners in the region while exploring how the PTS platform could potentially contribute to the management of equine tumors.

Following the technical exchange, Gongwin-KY plans to further evaluate potential opportunities involving clinical research, veterinary collaboration, regulatory pathways, and future commercialization in the UAE.

The company views the UAE as an important potential gateway for the broader Middle Eastern equine healthcare market.

Expanding the Global PTS Platform

Gongwin-KY continues to advance the PTS platform across species and tumor indications. Building on its experience in companion-animal oncology, the company is expanding its research into equine melanoma, sarcoid, squamous cell carcinoma, and other accessible solid tumors.

Through continued clinical research and collaboration with veterinary institutions and specialists internationally, Gongwin-KY aims to establish additional scientific evidence for p-TLS and evaluate its potential role as a minimally invasive intratumoral treatment option in veterinary oncology.

The company will continue pursuing international research partnerships and regulatory opportunities as part of its strategy to expand the PTS platform across species, indications, and global markets.
